Shri Ajit Doval Appointed as National Security Adviser

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri Ajit Doval, IPS (Retired) as National Security Adviser. 

The appointment of Shri Doval is effective from today on approved standard terms and conditions. The appointment will be co-terminus with the term of the Prime Minister or till further orders, whichever is earlier.

Overall Development of more than 10 Crore Tribals is Government’s Top Most Priority

The Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Jual Oram has said that overall development of more than ten crore tribal population and bringing them to social mainstream expeditiously is his topmost priority while at the same time preserving and protecting the tribal culture. Talking to media persons after assuming charge of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the Minister emphasized on empowerment and employment of tribal people through a three pronged approach that is short term, medium term and long term strategies. Shri Oram said, the thrust will be on building up and strengthening institutions like Integrated Tribal Development Agencies, micro-projects and Tribal Research Institutions. While taking up developmental projects and programes for tribals, the government will focus on striking a balance between environment and development, the Minister added. Shri Oram pointed out that his previous experience as Minister in the same Ministry will help him a lot in understanding the problems and issues being faced by the tribals and in fulfilling their hopes and aspirations, doing justice to them through provision of education, health and infrastructural facilities and making them economically self-sufficient. 

Shri Oram was the Minister for Tribal Affairs in the Government of Shri Atal Vihari Vajpayee from October, 1999 to May, 2004.
