Chief Secretary Alok Kumar  Jain today emphasized the need for better utilization of funds allotted to the  state as per the Plan outlay. He said that UDeC was assisting the state in mobilizing  over Rs.  150 Crore and stressed that  greater effort must be put by all government departments into project  preparation and requisite documentation so as to improve the state's track  record in utilizing Plan Allocation.
Chairing the 40th  Board Meeting of UDeC on Tuesday, the Chief Secretary assured the Board of  issuing necessary instructions for utilizing project documentation already  prepared for various departments.
          He noted that Rs. 7.62 Crore (more than  double the initial allocation) has been sanctioned by Ministry of Surface  Transport and Highways, Government of India for computerization of Uttarakhand  Transport Corporation on account of assistance provided by UDeC, joint venture  Company of the State with IDFC Foundation.
 The meeting was attended by Finance Secretary,  Planning Secretary, Managing Director UDeC and CEO IDFC Foundation.
Uttarakhand has been eligible  to receive Rs. 1634.45 crore under various centrally sponsored schemes of which  only Rs 1089.18 crore has been actually received in the past financial year.  This has been largely due to the lack of enabling framework for facilitating  project preparation as per the terms and conditions of such schemes. 
UDeC has assisted Urban Development and Transport  departments in accessing funds under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes like  JNNURM, Strengthening of public transport and UIDSSMT.
